The MGM Targets Breach Training Door was originally conceived by breaching instructor Skip Harris. This door allows you to breach mechanically, thermally, ballistically, and some limited explosive breaching. All this can be accomplished quickly with the standard 2 X 4 and 2 X 8 wooden blocks. These can be set up with conventional locks, chains, rebar, or simple wood screws. Our door lets you change breaching configurations quickly and easily.
The backbone of the Breach Training Door and frame is heavy structural tubing. We also designed the joints in such a manner as to eliminate weaknesses in the breaching area. We welded the tubing solid, and then covered the frame with sheet metal, except at the ramming locations. The sheet metal reduces the overall weight, but still provides a durable vision barrier. At the ramming points, we utilize the same steel that we use in our targets – 3/8” thick AR 550 steel. Beyond the armor plate ram areas, our 3 industrial duty, greaseable weld on hinges are extremely over designed, with a rating of about 2,000 lbs each.
The door can be set up as a free standing unit or mounted in a door opening. While some of the pictures show diagonal braces at the back, we have since modified the base, so they have been eliminated. This change eliminates the possibility of one of the students running into the brace as he/she goes through the door. Additionally, if you have a special application, we will be pleased to work with your people to design and install special mounting brackets, or other site specific features that will make the product more user friendly.
While this is probably the most versatile door on the market, it has limitations. We realize the Breach Training Door does not allow for Pushing Charges or Slants, and you can’t practice shooting hinges, spreading the jam or rabbiting the door. The design is not meant to replace sacrificial doors, but to provide inexpensive training in these exceptionally destructive techniques. This is an economically viable solution to an expensive problem, which provides classes with rapid live fire training in many different breaching techniques, in a limited amount of class time.
As with all MGM products, our Breach Training Door comes with our “Guaranteed Value” warranty. Simply stated, we guarantee that you’ll get your money’s worth. If you call us in 5 years, and tell us some component of the door failed and you didn’t think it should have, we’ll make it right. You are the only judge of what it takes to “make it right”. We recognize that, when an order is placed with us, someone is placing their trust in us. We’d be honored to have a chance to prove that we are as good as we say we are.
