The MGM Targets Dueling Tree with 6 steel plate targets is a workhorse on the range. The post is an angle iron, solid steel. The target hinges are the same 1″ solid round bar design we use on our plate racks, so I know they are good for a lot rounds. And of course, we still use only premium 3/8″ thick HEXALLOY 550 steel for our 6″ MGM HEXPlate target faces – The MGM HEXPlate is a sure sign you’ve got a genuine MGM target. While most people perceive this steel plate target system as a pistol target, over the last couple of years, it’s gained a lot of popularity in the long range rifle community and as a MIL/LE training target. It’s always been a favorite in the competition community. After all, what better way to determine who’s the best shooter out of you and all of your buddies?!?! And if you’re evenly matched, it’s a real ammo burner!!
Below is video of the 6 plate dueling tree in action. It’s somewhat dated, the target plates have now been upgraded to the ultra cool hexagon shape that MGM is world renown for.
If you want to use our dueling tree as a rifle target you must purchase a rifle grade shield. Look for Armor Guard/Rifle Shield for Dueling Tree 6 Plate nearby.
Target swing and bolt length: The bolts are that length by design. We found that when we put shorter bolts on there, the target plates could actually swing PAST 90 degrees, and the end of the bolts would wedge themselves on the inside edge of the angle iron post. The target has been shot hundreds of thousands of times with no issues in the traditional dueling tree configuration, even though they are slightly short of the full 90 degrees as they are.

Ross Alexander –
we like it, purchased the extra armor plate to protect it, we have a backyard range , used for our fun and CC classes. , not open to the public . after viewing the side splatter off our plate rack from the misses hitting the frame and tearing up a 4×4 post 3 feet to the side of it , buying the extra armor is the way to go
