The MLS Plate Rack Bucket is affordable, reliable, takes up very little room, and you’ll be shooting in less than 2 minutes once you hit the range! This is one of our newer products, very popular, and now affectionately referred to as “A plate rack in a bucket”
These 8″ Hex shaped plates are made of the same 3/8″ thick HEXALLOY 550 as other MGM targets. The MLS Plate Rack Bucket uses a modified hanger from our MLS line for the targets. For the “beam” and legs, we’re using our Sportsman 2×4 Leg Brackets.
To set this target system up, all you do is slide the target hangers onto an 8′ 2×4, slide two (2) 4′ 2×4’s into each end, and hang the targets! One of the best features of this target system is you don’t need ANY TOOLS!!
Added bonus!! our new Sportsman 2×4 Leg Brackets have slots you can use to hang a gong on a chain.
Set comes in an easy to carry bucket with 6 targets, 6 hooks and 2 beam hangers. (2×4’s are not included)
If you want to change things up a little bit, check out the entire MLS Target product line. We’ve got some really fun stuff in there the entire family will enjoy!! Now get out there and shoot some steel!
This system is super easy to transport and setup! Watch us get one put together in mere minutes!
NOTE! We’re now shipping these in our super durable, ultra sexy blue buckets. We switched to these because they’re actually MORE durable than the steel buckets. We think you’ll like them much better!
*MGM has always been the undisputed leader in product quality. The Sportsman line was introduced to reach an ever expanding customer base with the same true HEXALLOY 550 steel, in a more budget friendly target system. To keep costs down, most of the Sportsman products come off the cutting table and straight into the box. There is no cleaning, grinding or sanding of the slag or dross. Many of our final processing steps found in the premium line are bypassed to provide the customer with extra savings while maintaining the same quality steel you’ve come to expect from MGM!

The best Christmas present for the big “kids” ever. Arrived quick and complete in the bucket shown. The parts come out (as warned) covered in black soot so a quick dunk and scrub in another bucket, then a shot of metal primer and handling is much cleaner. Sets up in about a minute and then magically consumes about 300 rounds and two hours of your day. Unbeatable ease of portability and fun for the money. I’m here to get another one so I can make the legs different sizes and stack one over and slightly behind the first one.

Love this thing! Easy to haul and set up. Everyone likes shooting it. Great for teaching new shooters with quick feedback. Very durable, over 1000 rounds and no damage.

Great idea. It was very portable and easy set up. Kids had a great time racing each other! Great “bang!” for the buck (pun intended)!!

This is one of the most durable, versatile products I’ve shot in the past 27 years! I’m all about value. The durability and the quality put it WAY up on the list of favorite products. You can’t go wrong!

It’s hard to say I have a “favorite” MGM product, they’re all awesome. This one is high on the list. Very easy to set up and tear down, the replaceable 2×4 cross beam and legs are great because you can replace them at any time. The ability to tear down and store the Plate Rack in a Bucket make it a great choice for folks with limited storage areas. It’s great to get the practice in and then be able to store the plate rack out of the way.

This is the one piece of training equipment I take to the range every single time I go out! it sets up in seconds and can take a pounding! I have shot it with everything from 22lr’s, to our big .457wwg magnums! Do yourself a favor and get one and watch your match scores jump up immediately!!!

The MGM Plate Rack Bucket is a serious (and fun) piece of training gear at a very fair price.
The 550 steel is TOUGH and MGM did a great job designing the hanger system. The audible feedback on the plates is excellent and the hangers allow the perfect amount of movement when the plates are hit. All the other (competitors) hanging plates I’ve shot have been either too sloppy or too rigid, but MGM has found the sweet spot.
And setup is fast and easy. It stores small and the 2×4 system allows you to customize the height/length/spacing/etc to your specific training needs.
The bucket the targets are shipped in utilizes a lug lid. While very secure and functional, I’d love to see MGM offer the bucket with a lever lock lid. Now that’d be cool!
I had the pleasure of dealing with Jeff Hoskinson. He is as stand up a guy as you’ll ever have the pleasure of dealing with. $100 or $100k…it doesn’t matter, Jeff goes the extra mile for every customer.
I’ll be giving him a shout in the next few weeks for another bucket.

My favorite practice target. This is the second season I’ve used it. Use for handgun and shotgun practice. Easy to transport and sets up in a few minutes. The number of drills one can do is only limited by one’s imagination. The steel plates have held up very well after thousands of rounds. You won’t be disappointed with this target system.

My wife and I shot the crap out of the three plates in this photo on Saturday (using over 400 rounds of 9mm ball from as close as 30-feet; and over 200 rounds of 223 ball from as close as 45-feet). At the distances we fired from, there was ZERO perceivable blow-back. The majority of any fragmentation was directed under the plates and dissipated when striking the dirt. Nothing redirected back at my firing line. Other than needing new paint, the plates are as good as new.
Using the extra steel end pieces I purchased separately from the bucket-o-plates order, I am able to transport and use all 6 plates on two individual racks of three plates each. I use 5 lengths of 5-foot long 2×4 lumber (instead of 4ea 4-foot support legs and 1ea 8-foot plate beam).
The plates stand a bit higher than on the 4-foot leg supports. I am tall, so I find the extra target height comfortable and in line with my NAA. The 3-plate per configuration also provides me with the ability to practice transitions at varying target distances using the same number of plates that otherwise hang in one place.
The plates held up wonderfully, and I am a completely satisfied customer. Please feel free to share my feedback, and to let folks know that the 5-foot lengths of 2×4 lumber easily fit into a 2001 Ford short-bed pickup. This set up could not be more convenient for my use.
Thanks again for your outstanding customer support and your help in procuring the additional end-pieces for this target project.

Highly recommended! My outdoor range allows me to carry in steel, so I wanted something STURDY, that fit in my CAR, with NO TOOLS required. A seven-foot horizontal 2×4 holds 6 plates nicely. I use four or five-foot 2×4’s for the legs, and paint the plates in alternating white and black. Tie a bungee cord on the legs for even easier one-person setup.
The hangers allow for adequate plate swing for downward deflection. This is my first experience shooting steel, and I have NOT experienced any frags kicking back at 12 to 15 yards with 9mm pistol (115gr and 124gr.)

*Diiiiiiing* is such a satisfying sound. As another reviewer said, I purchased an extra set of feet brackets to set up two 3 plate racks. Buy three 10′ 2×4 boards and cut them all in half. All wood components are 5′ long. Everything stores neatly in the back of my short bed truck. Great value.

This product would receive five stars except it did not come as pictured.
The bucket shown in the images is a quality metal bucket painted black. The bucket I received is a blue plastic pal that isn’t of the same quality as a $5 Orange Home Depot Bucket.
Are the targets fine, yes. 2×4 holder, also fine. But Integrity should come first. If you show an individual picture of a quality metal bucket, and you ship something completely different I have no reason to rate your product highly.

Eugene, We apologize for the confusion on this. We’ve updated the website to show the bucket we’re currently shipping in. Here is some background on why we went to the blue plastic bucket….the primary reason is because it is SUBSTANTIALLY more durable than the metal bucket. We put all of the components in the plastic bucket and dropped it from about 20′ and there was no damage to the bucket. We realize that customers will treat their purchase well, but that doesn’t mean that UPS/FED Ex will. We really want our customers purchase to show up looking good. We weren’t getting that with the black metal buckets which is another reason we went to the plastic bucket. Another reason is they’re MGM BLUE! Please let us know if there is anything we can help with. Have a great day.
